Assisting Medicaid Patients with Renewal and Redetermination

For patients under Medicaid plans like Tufts Health Together, Tufts Health RITogether, Tufts Health Unify, and Tufts Health Plan Senior Care Options, renewing coverage is essential. It's crucial to remind your Medicaid patients to actively participate in their renewal process and respond to any information requests from the state.


How Providers Can Help:

  1. Proactive Communication: Encourage your staff to contact patients prior to appointments to confirm that their Medicaid coverage will be active.

  2. Utilizing Resources: Point32Health has developed various materials to assist provider offices, including member flyers in English and Spanish, digital signage, and posters. These can be co-branded with your practice's logo. To request these materials, email marketing_memberservices@point32health.org.

  3. Guiding Patients Post-Deadline: If a patient misses their renewal deadline, they should be advised to contact the state immediately. Submitting an application within 90 days of their term date may allow for retro-enrollment back to their term date, avoiding coverage gaps, if they still qualify.

Massachusetts:

  • Contact MassHealth: At 800-841-2900 (TTY:711) or the MA Health Connector at 1-877-MA-ENROLL (TTY: 1-877-623-7773).

  • Enrollment Assistance: Online enrollment assisters and MassHealth Enrollment Centers (MECs) can be invaluable. The Mass.Gov website also offers renewal instructions and contact information. For those ineligible for MassHealth, Connector Care plans are an alternative.

Rhode Island:

  • Contact HealthSource RI: At 1-855-840-4774 or DHS at 1-855-MY-RIDHS.

  • Online Resources: StayCoveredRI.gov provides educational materials and FAQs. Certified application counselors and navigators can offer direct help.

  • Provider Assistance: Rhode Island providers can call the Gainwell provider support line at 401-784-8100 for member eligibility inquiries.
